A Letter to My Dog, Half Pint

This last year may have been the worst one of my life, but at least I've got the world's two greatest dogs by my side to help me stagger into 2018. Today's post features a letter to Half Pint. Benjamin will be getting a letter later this week--he'd never let me hear the end of it, otherwise. Also, this posts features a lot of short video clips of Half Pint being silly. Since I apparently can't do anything right these days, they are exclusively shot in vertical mode. Please accept my apologies (and cut me some friggin' slack).

Weird Crime: Next time, just hide ALL the guns

Volusia County, Florida

On August 21, 2012, 44-year-old Jose Rivera was enraged at his wife. While there were probably many underlying and contributing factors, the main issues causing his current malicious state were:

1. Jose's wife, Wendy Rivera, had obtained and hidden his prized .380-caliber pistol.

2. Jose was bipolar (and apparently off his meds)

While it would seem that Wendy made a smart decision by taking a weapon away from a mentally unstable person, she unfortunately forgot about the .22-caliber rifle that her husband also owned. Jose, however, did not.

When Wendy refused to give up the pistol to her angry gun wielding husband, he proceeded to blast her cell phone to smithereens. Fearing that she may face the same fate as her late mobile communications device, Wendy quickly got in her car and attempted to leave the property.

Please note that I said it was her car...but since Jose apparently paid for it, he decided that she wasn't going anywhere and threatened to shoot the vehicle, as well. When the police arrived, Jose confessed that he had in fact shot his wife's phone and threatened to shoot her car. He didn't see this as issue since he paid for the car.

"Man Law!"

As far as the whole "you just aimed a gun at a car with your wife in it and threatened to shoot" thing, Jose explained that this was also perfectly legal since he had a right to shoot his own property.

Jose Rivera was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. Since he is also a convicted felon (whoops), Jose was charged with illegal possession of a firearm.

He is currently being held in the Volusia County Jail without bond.

Let's hope he's a bit more level headed
about who gets the top bunk in his cell.
