A Letter to My Dog, Half Pint

This last year may have been the worst one of my life, but at least I've got the world's two greatest dogs by my side to help me stagger into 2018. Today's post features a letter to Half Pint. Benjamin will be getting a letter later this week--he'd never let me hear the end of it, otherwise. Also, this posts features a lot of short video clips of Half Pint being silly. Since I apparently can't do anything right these days, they are exclusively shot in vertical mode. Please accept my apologies (and cut me some friggin' slack).

Face Palm Moments in Journalism: CNN gives us a huge news dump

Reporting and/or commenting on the news is a wonderful breeding ground for comedy.  This is due to a couple of factors:

1.  Most television news organizations broadcast their shows live, either on location during a story or simply sitting at an anchor desk.  This can lead to a wealth of mishaps and unexpected catastrophes, all while a camera is rolling and transmitting the images to millions of people.

Many pundit/opinion based television shows (not to be confused with actual reporting, though it often is) are also done live.

Some prefer to scream their opinion at others on this matter.

2.  Much of the reporting that goes on at these news organizations is terrible.  There are endless reasons and factors that can be considered (24 hour news cycle filler, bias on either side of the political scale, etc), but there is one issue that can lead to some bipartisan agreement; the lack of a consistently thorough and well researched news source.

This first entry is most definitely from category #1.  CNN was finishing up a report about student protests in London due to a hike in university tuition costs.  They then smoothly transitioned to news from Capitol Hill; the Democrats voted not to bring up a tax package that President Obama had negotiated with Republicans.

Then, this happened:

Apparently, there was to be some sort of news story about digestive disease that was going to use the clip as an intro...which still seems a little dicey for 24 hour news station.  Can you imagine this scene playing out at top volume and on multiple big screens in an airport?

Anyway, congratulations to CNN on making me laugh...for the right reasons this time.
